GOD FOR THE KIDS: Pink Event for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
About Event
CASA Baez Segura Foundation honored breast cancer victims during the breast cancer awareness month of October. Our Founder and CEO, Yokasta Segura Baez took the opportunity to also honor her mom who passed away from cancer as well as several family members who have passed away from this terrible disease. This was CASA’s first visit to children in this community to support a local pastor who has been working with children in this community for many years. The event took place at a beautiful location which was decorated with plenty of different shades of pink balloons, cake, candy and funny-looking pens. It is in this exact place where the kids have been recently receiving after-school activities, including Children Sunday school, music and singing lessons and tailoring classes to keep them away from trouble. A broad range of children were represented ages 6 to13. We also took the opportunity to bring special gifts to new and expectant moms for their babies (ages 0-12 months). Age-appropriate activities were also presented to all the boys and girls. The highlight of the event was the praising and worship given the kids had the opportunity to put into practice the praising skills they were learning for the prior months. They sang with all their might! In addition, it was made clear to the kids the importance of taking care of their bodies and that even though the theme was related to breast cancer the nature of their special event was to have fun and to celebrate them!
